MICRODERMABRASION

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a relatively new skin restoration process. It is a mechanical form of exfoliation, treating a range of skin abnormalities by performing a progressive and controlled exfoliation. It helps to improve and correct various abnormalities that originate in the epidermis and the most superficial layers of the dermis, stimulating collagen production and cell renewal.

This gentle technique is performed with a jet of fine mineral crystals (usually Aluminum Oxide) These crystals are vacuumed across the skin cells, which with stimulation of collagen beneath the surface of the skin, creates firmer, softer and brighter skin tones.

Microdermabrasion is recommended to following conditions.

Sun damaged skin

Uneven granular skin

Blackheads and comedomes

Age spots and superficial pigmentation

Fine lines and wrinkles

Acne scars improved

Removal of rough skin

This technology has been widely used in Western Europe for approximately 15 years. It has been approved by the FDA in the United States in the recent years. Aluminum oxide, of which the crystals are made, are hypo-allergenic to most skin types. This procedure can be used on all types of skin and color. In order to be effective, a course of between six to twelve treatments is recommended.

Clients that are using Retin A, Renova or any type of strong exfoliant, should discontinue use 2 weeks prior to treatment.

Waxing procedure cannot be done 3-4 days before or after microdermabrasion.

SPA BODY TREATMENTS

Light body brushing followed by hydro-active mineral salt scrub combined with either Stress Relief or Toxin Relief Treatment Oil. This is

gently rubbed over the body with a special buffing cloth to exfoliate the dead skin cells. Thereafter removed with warm water and

a conditioning body wash and finally hot steamed towels previously soaked in a calming botanical mix.

If required, this can be followed by a protective solar bronzing treatment utilizing SPF 15 self-tanning lotion giving the body a natural looking sun tan without the harmful rays of the sun.
